I apologize for attempting to reach you through this forum, but I'm attempting to find that ancestors of my ggg grandmother Margaret CURRY. I've visited you family tree at ancestry and I realize that may not have a Margaret listed as a daughter of Hugh and Mary KING CURRY of Odgensburg, St. Lawrence, NY, but they fit too well not to be the parents of Margaret.

Here's what I know about my Margaret: Born 1834 in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence County, NY, and died July 12, 1894 in Port Hope, Canada. She married James OLIVER abt. 1855. He was born 1824 in England, and died May 15, 1905 in Albion, MI. According to the 1881 Canadian census, Margaret was of Irish origin. Also, according to the 1881 Canadian census, it appears that Margaret and James OLIVER were living in Canada before the birth of their first child about 1855:

Household Record 1881 Canadian Census

Household:
Name Marital Status Gender Ethnic Origin Age Birthplace Occupation Religion
James OLIVER M Male English 57 England Shoemaker Presbyterian
Margaret J. OLIVER M Female Irish 47 USA Presbyterian
Elizabeth J. OLIVER Female English 26 Ontario Dressmaker Baptist
Margaret E. OLIVER Female English 23 Ontario Dressmaker Baptist
Annie OLIVER Female English 17 Ontario Baptist
Thomas OLIVER Male English 11 Ontario Presbyterian

Source Information:
Census Place Port Hope, Durham East, Ontario

I’ve also seen Margaret’s last name spelled “CORRY”.

I looked for her as part of the family on the 1850 census, but she did not appear, (below) but she would have been 16 and could have been working and living as a nanny with a relative or friend of the family (couldn't find her anywhere in the area on the 1850 census). She could have also fit between John and Peter in age, though it is possible she is not their child.

1850 United States Federal Census about Hugh CURRY
Name: Hugh CURRY
Age: 46
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1804
Birth Place: Ireland
Gender: Male
Home in 1850(City,County,State): Oswegatchie, Saint Lawrence, New York
Family Number: 492
Household Members: Name Age
Hugh CURRY
46
Mary CURRY
46
John CURRY
17
Peter CURRY
15
Mary Ann CURRY
13
Catherine CURRY
12
Bridget CURRY
10
Jesse Eaton
17

I'd love to hear from you on this matter and see if I can make the connection or if you know of any other CURRY or CORRY families from Ogdensburg/Oswegatchie township that could fit the bill.

Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation.

LeAnn
I think the cemetery you are looking for is called Memory Gardens. It is before the city limits in Hickman County. There is another son named Owen. Try Hickman County's website. It might help. www.hickmanco.com

I am searching for burial records of Thomas "Jacob" Blackshear b. 01 Jan 1832 & d. 15 Jul 1889 and buried in Gravel Hill Cemetery. His wife Martha Jane Curtis Blackshear b. 20 Dec 1835 & d.17 Feb 1910 is also buried there. They had a granddaughte also buried there: Elizebeth Annie Blackshear b. 17 Mar 1889 & d.Jan 1900. There are other Blackshear family members buried there too. The Blackshear name has been spelled many ways, Blacksher, Blackshere, Blackshire etc. but still the same family. They were members of a Methodist Church. If anyone could help, glad to share information I already have.

I can't find him and his first wife in the 1930 census but their son, Paul lived in Robertson Co. when he died in 1991 and George was living in Robertson Co. when died in 1959 and he was married at the time of his death.
Do you have the obit for Lela English?
Email me direct at Sjcfamorg@comcast.net
Sharon in Robertson Co., TN

I Googled it and came up with the info on Tom Leatherwood's site in Shelby County and assume that's where you found the info. When I tried Doll Webb on that site, I came up with three hits. My info came from the SSDI, and the birth date (about 1904) for the Doll in Nashville fits more closely than either of the other two women.

I will appreciate anything you find.
Cheryl

I am trying to find the death date of Doll/Dollie Webb, daughter of Lela and John A. English. Lela died 26 Aug 1964 and was buried in the Orlinda Cemetery. She was living with her daughter, Dollie, at the time of her death. I think Doll died in September 1979, but I need a complete death date in order to find her obituary. If someone has access to cemetery readings for the Orlinda Cemetery, I would appreciate a check to see if Doll is buried near her mother and her date of death. Also, any other possible family members who might be buried near Lela. They had another daughter, Paula Lazelle (English) Valverde. Thank you.

I still can't find her burial site and thought it was unusual that she wasn't listed with her husband. Maybe she lived with a family member in Henry county. You might contact the Adamsville cemetery and have them check their records. I can't find a phone number for the cemetery but someone on the McNairy county board should be able to help.
I've found many of my relatives can't be found at Find a grave, even tho I know they are buried in a certain cemetery.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=fi...;

I hope some of this helps.
Mr. Bishop married Ella Webb and she is buried in Webb Cemetery in Sullivan co. I am trying to find information on the plots of who is buried where. I have made a couple of trips to the area and have had little to no luck even though there are current graves being added. This cem. is off Egypt rd. overlooking the Bristol speedway.
I visited the Talley Cemetery recently but was unable to determine the date of the earliest burials.

There are many weathered sandstone markers.

Kindly reply with any information that may be available about the cemetery.

Was it in use before 1840?
