A few months ago, I started a Y-DNA Project for the McCrackens. The purpose of the project was to identify as many early (pre-1800) McCracken lines as possible and to connect them, if possible, to McCrackens who moved from the British Isles. I would encourage you to join this effort. The Y-DNA test is appropriate only for McCracken-surnamed males however females with male McCracken relatives are welcome to have them tested.
